Alexander J. Whalen

Alexander J. Whalen is a multi-faceted artist/composer hailing from the midwest of the United States currently based in St. Louis, MO. Having grown up in a family of professional artists and art educators, Whalen had always had a peaked interest and affinity to pursue a creative career path.

Through his early childhood and high school years, Whalen had developed a discipline in studying music performance and composition with his primary instrument being that of the guitar. Having had competed and won two sequential Illinois state titles for jazz guitar, and presented with the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award for improvisational prowess, Whalen was motivated to pursue his passion of music at the collegiate level.

 

Whalen graduated from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA in 2016 with a B.M. in Professional Music with emphasis in the areas of film scoring, audio engineering, and music business. He was awarded the North American Tour Scholarship for his original composition and performance works.

Whalen has been composing and producing music professionally for TV, film, and video games since 2016 with such featured credits as Teen Titans Go!, DC Universe, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Conan, I Want to Marry the Princess, OBJECTified, the award winning 2018 independent film Unconditional, and many more.

 

Currently Whalen is the music supervisor for the Emmy award winning daytime TV show LA Stories with Giselle Fernandez and is working as a freelance composer/audio engineer.
